I’ve been a CTO and engineering leader for 25+ years. I’ve coached 100+ CTOs in 1200+ sessions. Nobody is the same CTO, and the difference is not in their opinions. It is in the person, and in the things that happened to them on the way.

“Why I’m different” is a podcast about that way. I talk to CTOs about their career and the situations that made them the CTO they are today. What was it like the first time you had people reporting to you? What did you do in your first big incident, and what would you do now? When did you fire someone for the first time, and how did you feel afterwards? What was the decision you got wrong, and what did it change in you?
